Looking south along the Thames from the Hungerfood Bridge near Embankment. At left is the London Eye (which used to be known as the Millenium Wheel). In the center is Westminster Bridge, at at right is Westminster Palace with the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.
These days, the streets of downtown London at night are a far cry of the days of dim, flickering streetlamps fueled by whale blubber and Jack the Ripper lurking in the foggy shadows.
Like other of the world’s great cities, London really comes alive at night. It’s one of my favorite cities for night-time ambling, not to mention night photography.
