A Light for Your GoPro
The latest generation of GoPros, the HERO4 Black and Silver, have come a long way in dealing with low light situations. But sometimes available light shooting just won’t cut it. This project is for a companion LED light that mounts neatly with your GoPro, or, as the developers put it in their pitch: the “smallest, lightest, most powerful light ever designed to mount with a GoPro”. One usage of this that appeals particularly to me is how much it could help with close-up underwater shots. The light isn’t going to go far underwater, but for close-ups of fish or coral it could really bring out colors that would otherwise end up a washed out blue. End February 14.
There are always lots of wannabe photo book authors on Kickstarter, but some really stand out. Photographer Aline Smith is looking to put together a book of portrait photographs she’s been taking for the past two decades. The pitch text doesn’t really do the project justice, but the example photos on the project page show a really interesting viewpoint.
Denali National Park
Photographer Camille Seaman will be artist-in-residence in Alaska’s Denali National Park. This Kickstarter project, which has already been funded several times over, will underwrite her residency. Ends February 9.
