Lens Filter Size Chart for Sigma Lenses

If you're looking to add a polarizer, UV, or ND filter to your lens, you'll need to know the lens diameter/filter size. Here's a lens filter size chart for Sigma lenses.

Sigma 24-35mm F2 DG Lens

Here are the lens diameters and corresponding filter sizes for common Sigma lenses.

I’m focusing here on lenses that accept a screw-in filter on the front. Some lenses, such as very wide-angle or fisheye lenses, don’t have a filter thread on the front and can’t accept this style of filter. And some very long telephoto lenses use a system of drop-in filters at the rear of the lens.

Some focal lengths have multiple lenses, so it’s important to match the other parts of the name. It’s common for lens manufacturers to produce multiple lenses at specific focal lengths, and they don’t necessarily have the same lens diameter and filter size.

This is an ongoing list. I’m starting with Sigma’s current range and adding older lenses to it as the opportunity arises. Please feel free to send through any additions, requests, or corrections.

If you don’t see your lens listed here and want to find out the filter size, it’s often marked on the lens itself. For a more detailed guide, see my post on finding the lens diameter.

A quick way to filter down from this long list is to use the chart’s search bar to narrow down by focal length (eg. type in “70-200”).

News & Deals

With the holidays fast approaching, there’s some great deals on photography gear and services available. I’ve put together a roundup of Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2020 Photography Deals. It’s a running list as new deals are announced, so be sure to check back.

Canon announces new EOS Rebel T8i DSLR. Canon has announced their new T8i DSLR. 24MP APS-C cropped CMOS sensor, 4K24 video, and updated image processing and detection systems. It’s available for preorder from B&H Photo.

New Firmware for the Ricoh GR III. Ricoh has release firmware v1.31 for the GR III. Release notes are: “Corrected — When shooting with the multiple exposure, in rare cases the live view may not display correctly. Improved stability for general performance.” You can download it here.

New Canon 1D X Mark III Pro DSLR Announced. Canon has announced their new flagship model of pro DSLR, the 1D X Mark III. They’re sticking with a 20.1MP CMOS sensor, but it’s a new and improved version and boasts an incredible native ISO range of ISO 100 to ISO 102400 and an extended range that goes up to a jaw-dropping ISO 819200. With revamped autofocus, a new image processor, and all sorts of other bells and whistles, it’s no wonder that Canon is billing it as “The Ultimate EOS.”

New Manfrotto Pro Rugged Memory Cards. Manfrotto, an Italian probably best known for their tripods and studio accessories, has launched a new Pro Rugged range of high-end SD, microSD, and CompactFlash cards. While they don’t have a huge selection of sizes and speeds, the cards are aiming for very fast cards that can put up with rugged demands. For instance, they claim that their V90 rated SD cards can withstand three times the force (20kg / 45 lbs) of a regular SD card. I’ve ordered some to run through my speed tests.

New Sony Alpha a7 firmware released. A firmware update for the Sony a7R IV now lets you control external Sony flashes from the camera’s own menu system. Up to 15 flashes in five groups can be controlled via the camera. It also applies to the a7R III and a7 III.

Hi, I have a sigma 150 mm – 600 mm f 5 -6.3 hsm os telephoto lens which has a 86 mm filter thread ,screw – in type filter . Using reverse thinking I am trying to find out exactly which of sigmas line up of 600 mm lenses I have ? I have got myself into a bit of brain freeze and I am puzzled to say the least.
Hoping you with all your knowledge you can give me the full spec ? . The standard sigmas I have checked are the a, s, c, and Art to no avail. Thanking you of a response. thank you.

Good question, but I don’t know of one with 86mm filters and haven’t been able to find mention of one online. There are two of them I know of, both in the current lineup. The Contemporary version takes 95mm filters and the Sports version takes 105mm filters. I have the Sports version and have used the Contemporary one. On each, there’s a small, round silver badge on the side of the lens with either a C or S. But maybe there’s an older version? I’m not that familiar with Sigma’s older lenses.

Sorry, but I’m not able to find any information about a Sigma prime lens of 55mm focal length online (and it’s not one I have or have used).

According to the tech specs it takes a 46mm rear drop-in filter. I haven’t used that lens, and some rear drop-in filters are custom designed for a specific lens. Best bet would be to contact Sigma support directly–they can give you the most authoritative answer.
