Working out what image sizes to use on Facebook isn’t as easy as it could be and involves some wrangling to get the result you want. Each type of image on a page, profile, and timeline has its own size and quirks. And Facebook never has been very good about making its help pages easy to find.
So here’s my updated 2014 version of the unofficial guide for the sizes of Facebook photos on the various parts of the site. This post is the second in the series. You can find similar guides for Page Timelines, News Feeds, and Facebook Image Quality with the box at left.
Facebook Event Page Cover Photos
Event pages have a similar layout to a regular timeline, but the measurements are slightly different.
The Event Cover Photo displays at 784 x 295.
Facebook Event Page Timeline Photos
Images on an event timeline fit within a box with maximum dimensions of 470 x 394. If you want to use the maximum amount of available space, use an image of those proportions.
If you upload a horizontal (landscape) image, it will span across 470 px.
If you upload a vertical (portrait) image, the entire image will display but it will be aligned left and leave white space to the right.
You can also upload multiple images at once, in which case it displays similarly to uploading to the regular timeline but with slighter smaller display dimensions for each thumbnail.
