For something a bit different, I thought I’d share some panoramas I shot a while back at the Excellence Playa Mujeres resort, a luxury, all-inclusive resort on a quiet and lovely stretch of beach north of the traffic and bustle of Cancun.

It’s certainly a great place if you’re looking to just get away and relax by the beach. Or if the pools are more your style, there are seven pools onsite. So you can go for a week and swim in a different pool each day, dine at a different restaurant each night, and grab drinks from a different bar each evening, all without getting near a car or having to worry about anything more demanding than applying sunscreen. We were lucky enough to be there for some friends’ wedding. They chose well.

And if you’re inclined to visit for yourself, you can find rates and availability here. I’ve also stayed next door, at the Beloved Playa Mujeres, and can recommend that too. It’s also an Excellence resort. It’s smaller and quieter but equally as luxurious. You can find the rates and availability for it here.

Travel Insurance For Your Trip to Mexico

I never travel without travel insurance, and I've run into several situations where I've had to make claims. I consider it essential.

But shopping for travel insurance can be a pain and confusing. Thankfully, there are some travel insurance comparison sites that show you a wide range of plans, make it easy to compare coverage, and can save you money at the same time. And the coverage can be much better tailored to your specific needs than the checkbox offering at travel booking sites or through your credit card.

These are some good places to shop for travel insurance for your next trip to Mexico :

Hopefully, you won't need it, but if something goes wrong, you'll sure be glad you have it!
