Here’s a master list of the aspect ratios for still images available on the OM System OM-5 camera. The pixel dimensions of the saved image files vary based on the image quality and size setting you’ve chosen.

Olympus is now OM System

In 2020-21, the photography business of iconic camera brand Olympus was spun off and sold. The core remaining Olympus brand is focusing on medical and scientific products. The camera and photography side was then rebranded as OM System, with the first cameras and lenses under that brand coming out at the end of 2021.

The OM-5 has a 20MP sensor with a native 4:3 aspect ratio (it is, after all, a Micro Four Thirds camera).

This is for still images only.

And there’s something worth noting: it only applies to JPG images. The JPG images will save at whatever aspect ratio you’ve selected in the camera’s settings. But when shooting RAW, the RAW image will always save a full-size version at the sensor’s native 4:3 aspect ratio but will include a metadata field noting the aspect ratio if you’ve changed it.

Things Worth Knowing

Changing the aspect ratios only changes the JPG versions. The RAW image files will always use the full sensor size but will include a note in the metadata.

When shooting video, you can choose different combinations of resolution, framerate, and compression method, but all out 16:9 video, whether its at 4K, FHD, or HD sizes.

Handheld High Res Shot Mode

The 50M and 25M rows above refer to the Handheld Hi-Res Shooting feature, which creates multi-image composites in camera. You can find out more about how it works in this video (which refers to the OM-D E-M1X but is the same feature):
