Here I’m focusing on the Canon 24-105mm F4 IS USM zoom lens.
This lens is one of the kit lens options with the new Canon EOS R5 mirrorless camera, which is the camera I’m using it on here. You can, of course, also buy the camera body alone and pair with another lens separately. But I’m posting these images for anyone who might be trying to decide whether to get the kit lens or not.
It has a zoom range from a wide-angle 24mm to a moderate telephoto of 105mm. The 24mm focal length is a favorite of mine; I really like it for general travel photography. The 105mm focal length is a moderate telephoto that’s pretty much a standard for traditional portrait photography (and macro photography, but this isn’t a macro lens). And since the R5 body has a full-frame sensor, you get full value for the focal lengths (i.e., on a cropped sensor, you’d get a magnified version). This lens has a fixed maximum aperture of ƒ/4 throughout the zoom range. And it also has built-in lens stabilization.
These real-world examples are all straight out of the camera without any cropping. All were taken from the same spot. And they were all shot on a Canon R5. In each pair, the first is zoomed out at 24mm and the second zoomed in fully to 105mm.
