GoPro HERO13 Black

The GoPro HERO13 Black was released in September 2024.

It’s a relatively modest upgrade over the HERO12 Black and keeps compatibility with many of the same accessories and mounts as the HERO10 Black and HERO11 Black. If you’re used to shooting with any of those models, you’ll feel right at home with the HERO13 Black.

But there are some key differences. For instance, the new model uses a new 1900mAh Enduro battery that is not compatible with the previous version (the contacts are in a different place and orientation, for one thing). The new battery promises longer shoot times.

And there’s a new range of snap-on lenses. Some deal with exposure, such as the ND filters. Others provide a wider perspective.

Like the HERO12 Black, the HERO13 Black uses the same GP2 chip and retains the same-size 1/1.9″ CMOS sensor, still uses HyperSmooth 6.0, has much the same video and photo resolutions and framerate combinations, and has a maximum video bitrate of 120Mbps. Burst modes, RAW photo capture (.gpr), timelapse, webcam mode, and scheduled capture are all still there. It still uses the USB-C connector for power and data, and requires an optional extra Media Mod to add HDMI-out (same for adding external mic).

It still includes a built-in folding mount point on the bottom, but its design has been refined slightly.
